1. Despacito – Remix – Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, Justin Bieber

Unarguably the biggest song of 2017, which is the reason we’re all sick of it now! I listened this song ALL summer and it made a perfect sunbathing tune. The Spanish influence was fresh and exciting at the time and had all of our hips swinging. Justin Bieber’s touch had everyone obsessed.

2. Solo Dance – Martin Jensen

I love this song but I also feel it sums up 2017 pretty well. I think this year was definitely a year for individuals speaking out and realising that they don’t need someone else to have a good time. Dance music has been booming out of everyone’s radios this year and I love the way this song is dance-y but still keeps that pop vibe we all love. I could listen to this one forever… well, maybe a year is enough!

3. Good Grief – Bastille

This song came out at a very poignant time for me and I feel the message has resonated with everyone at some point in 2017. We have seen so many awful things this year that have left families torn apart and loved ones gone. But we have also seen the incredible resilience of communities who pull together and make sure the memories of those lost are never forgotten. We have shown how we can all carry on, in true British form!

4. Blinded by Your Grace Pt. 2 – Stormzy, MNEK

What can we say about Stormzy? Can you even remember a time without him? He seemed to pop up out of nowhere and won over our ears and hearts with his raw and beautiful lyrics. This song is so catchy and the collaboration with MNEK lifts the track to a whole new level. 2017 has seen an uprising of grime, hip-hop and rap music, not all of which has been to my taste! But Stormzy has combined everything we love about music into one and I wish him luck for the future he has composed for himself.

5. Anywhere – Rita Ora

A relatively new release, Rita Ora’s new sound is perfect. Her flawless, soulful vocals shine throughout this song. I think we’ve all felt like we needed to escape at some point this year and this tune sums that up perfectly!

Merry Christmas everyone and here’s to more brilliant music in 2018!
